Times are changing. The digital age, and the constantly evolving array of innovative tech, tools and apps that comes with it, requires businesses to take a step back and rethink their structure and strategy. Gone are the days of pen and paper, especially for recruiters who are always multitasking and on the go. Sure, traditional ways of operating are still beneficial, but businesses need to understand that digital tools are paramount to success. While cash flow is arguably the biggest factor in a business’s survival – and there are plenty of high-tech digital services out there for money transfer business loans – to reach the next level and really succeed you need to adopt digital tools in other parts of your business. Competition is fierce out there – “adapt or die” is a statement that I am hearing all too often.
Improve the productivity of your business
Never underestimate the importance of internal communications and business management. There are a plethora of tools available that are ideal for increasing workflow within your business. Video chatting, instant messaging and recruitment tools are not only efficient, but vital for success in today’s tech landscape. Modern instant messaging tools, such as Slack, have revolutionised the way communication is conducted within the workplace – no longer do we need to rely on lengthy email threads. These platforms are not only time-saving, but they are also efficient, as they allow for effective, real-time team-based communication. Video conferencing is also becoming increasingly important as businesses expand globally, staff work remotely, and working from home policies becoming more accepted. Skype and Zoom, as well as similar tools, provide the convenience of being able to chat with those who are not physically present, boosting productivity as workers are able to carry on with their day-to-day activities. Recruitment processes have also been revolutionized, with cloud-based platforms like JobAdder enabling businesses to manage job ads, candidate communication and all other recruitment tasks from the convenience of a single portal. As potential candidates are more likely to apply for jobs via one of many online job sites rather than in person, via phone, or in response to a printed ad (after all, it is 2017), moving all recruitment processes to the online world just makes sense.
Build trust and credibility
Business is now conducted on a much more personal scale thanks to the digital age. To survive, it needs to. Competition is fierce, and the need for an active, attractive, and most importantly, consistent, online presence is key for success. Social media platforms are excellent tools to provide consistent brand messaging and to understand and engage with your audience. For example, say you’re a job seeker who is tossing up between two recruitment firms. Company A has a very ordinary website and a limited online presence. On the other hand, Company B has a thriving (not to mention attractive) website, linking to an abundance of frequently updated social platforms, which include reviews, queries and ratings from real people and happy candidates. Did I mention they also provide several types of contact details? Which would you opt for? My money goes to Company B. “Adapt or die”. Another great arena of digital tools is analytics. Most platforms designed for external communications strategies will likely incorporate some form of analytics. Sure, it’s your choice whether you do anything with the data, but getting to know your audience and providing them with the content and services they really want will take your business to the next level.
The way forward
Whether we like it or not, this is the way forward. Dare I say this is only the beginning. As technology improves, traditional business models will quickly be made even more redundant than they are today. We have been handed an opportunity to conduct business more effectively than ever before, both internally and externally. We should embrace this change and reinvent our strategies. We should feel empowered by the suite of technology at our fingertips. Revitalize and reinvent. This is the future.
