Each year our Adders take remote working to new and exciting places. So far this year our remote working staff have worked from ancient towns in Colombia, beautiful beaches in Hawaii and tropical paradise in Bali. So how do we keep track of having staff in all corners of the globe and ensure they’re still part of the daily life and culture of our company? Here are some of the tools we use to hire and and stay connected with our digital nomads. VideoMyJob This smart video app lets you record video job ads to really give remote candidates a sense of how great it would be to work for your company, even if they can’t visit your office in person. Equipped with an inbuilt teleprompter, VideoMyJob is also a great tool for recording training, marketing and promotional videos.
Spark Hire Spark Hire is a great tool that allows you to connect with remote talent via one-way or two-way video interviews. See what a candidate’s personality is like and how they think on their feet without a face-to-face meeting. Plus, the interviews are saved afterwards, meaning you can play them back and ask a colleague for a second opinion on someone if needed.
Slack A user-friendly tool with a lot of personality that’s great for internal communications. One-on-one chats are as easy as company-wide conversations and it’s made for sharing media – everyone’s favourite feature of Slack is it’s hilarious and downright bizarre array of GIFs! Slack makes it possible for all staff to be included in the conversations, latest happenings and fun of day-to-day company life, no matter where they are.
Zoom Zoom is a good tool for dialling international workers into meetings and company conferences. Remote workers can join any meeting by following a link shared by the host and can have face time in the meeting with video functionality. There’s also an option to mute or blank your own screen if you’re doing the call from home in your pyjamas!
Trello Trello makes workflow management easy. You can create separate boards for different business areas, e.g. Design, Product Releases etc., and compartmentalise tasks under those areas via individual cards. All contributors to a task (including remote workers) are tagged in a card so they can collaborate, be updated as it progresses towards completion and be reminded when a task deadline is coming up.
Every Time Zone Just like its name, Every Time Zone is a quick way to see and compare different time zones. It also maps out days and lets you toggle a time bar back and forth to see what a certain time will be in different international cities – a godsend when trying to plan meetings in advance with remote workers in different time zones!
