Recruiters – when was the last time you went above and beyond the call of duty for a candidate? People are our product in this competitive industry and it pays to invest in them and keep them happy. Take a candidate for coffee before an interview or check in on an old client and wish them a Merry Christmas!
A good recruitment CRM can make every candidate and client feel like their recruiter is their very own problem eliminator (no matter how many projects that recruiter may be juggling). Send group emails customised to each recipient, reach contacts via text for quick responses and reminders, use and reuse templated emails and job ads.
The fittest and best recruiters use recruitment platforms that produce consistent, frequent product updates. If an RMS is continually releasing new features and enhancements, you can be confident of its adaptability and commitment to continuous improvement.
Staying front and centre in people’s minds means they’ll turn to you in times of need. Start each week by reaching out to a handful of new prospects and be an active member of your recruitment community – go to the industry events, attend the awards and contribute to the meetup groups – the rewards will follow!
Bond’s way of saying don’t forget to celebrate the wins – big and small! Source: JobAdder Blog – Recruit Everywhere http://blog.jobadder.com/lessons-in-recruitment-from-james-bond/ With just a few weeks left of 2016, we want to take a moment to thank the recruiters who’ve supported our growth this year and acknowlegde all of their hard work. Jason, Melissa, Enzo, Reece and Luke have gone above and beyond to help us add new and diverse talent to our expanding team this year; the success of every new employee is a testament to how good they are at their job. We are also very proud to be able to support the industry that we work so closel with. A big thank you goes out to these people for helping us grow this year;
Source: JobAdder Blog – Recruit Everywhere http://blog.jobadder.com/a-shoutout-to-the-recruiters-who-helped-us-to-grow-this-year/ Each year at this time I pause and reflect on something that happened over a decade ago when I co-owned a IT recruitment agency. It was coming up to year end and we had a candidate in the running for a senior Sales Management position. He had been through some personal issues with a recent separation and had been unemployed for 2 – 3 months before we met him, so as you can imagine, he really wanted this job. He was an excellent candidate and was looking very good for the role. As he kept progressing through the stages it ended up being our candidate and one other person from another agency. We were very confident he would get the role. The week before Christmas however, we received the bad news that the client had selected the other candidate. It had been a very tight call and they actually came close to hiring both candidates. We delivered the bad news as best we could and then a week or two later we closed down the office for Christmas and went on our respective holidays. A week after Christmas, the consultant who had been working with this candidate received a call from the candidate’s father. As things transpired, our candidate had tragically taken his own life over the Christmas break and the father had found our business card in his apartment and wanted to thank us for the effort we had made to help his son find a new role. He knew how close his son came to getting the job and knew we had been working hard to help his son land the job. It is difficult to explain the impact that this event had on us, and on the consultant who had worked with our candidate. It has been many years now, but every year at this time I get a feeling of deep sadness and guilt, wondering what we could have done better. Were we empathetic enough? Did we try as hard as we could have? Should we have followed him up over Christmas to see how he was going? Could we have spent more time doing BD and found more job leads for this person? The answer to all of those questions is undoubtedly “yes”. As recruiters we have a lot of influence and we can always do more. There are always more calls that can be made, more candidates to check in with… more, more, more of just about everything. Rather than feeling sad about it this year however I wanted to share the story and encourage anyone reading this blog to pause a minute and think about who you could reach out to this Christmas season. Who do you know whose life could be changed just a teeny bit with a cheerful phone call or coffee catch up with you? (hint: it is probably a lot more people than you would think).
So while this is a dreadful, sad story I would love it if you could remember this story when you are dealing with job seekers going forward. Not just at Christmas, but all the time. If we as recruiters and hirers can be even just a little bit more empathetic, kind and considerate in our dealings with job seekers then we can make a big difference to thousands of people’s lives. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a magnificant Christmas season with your loved ones and your candidates.
Source: JobAdder Blog – Recruit Everywhere http://blog.jobadder.com/a-reminder-to-share-the-love-with-candidates-this-christmas/ Here at JobAdder, it goes without saying that we know how to throw a party. Of all the client drinks, industry events, festive bashes (and that time we covered ourselves in glitter) it’s the kick-ass JobAdder Christmas parties that us Adders really wait 365 days for. International Adders from every corner of the globe were flown in to tropical Noosa town, which provided the scenic backdrop for our team bonding and debauchery. To the residents of Noosa who witnessed us tearing up Hastings Street in our JobAdder merch: thanks for the memories.
First stop on the itinerary was Go Karting and in true Adder style – we were in it to win it. Turns out Go Karting is one sport where height isn’t a natural advantage, so the cramped carts were more comfortable for some Adders than for others! Activity numero uno also provided the perfect backdrop for our very own Mannequin Challenge. Don’t you wish you’d thought of that?!
After an epic first night of the best karaoke Noosa has ever seen (no really, we have a classically-trained Opera singer in our midst) we set sail for swimming, fishing and some good old fashioned beach cricket on Day 2. The weather was flawless and the fails kept the laughs rolling: boats getting bogged in the sand, catching and swiftly trying to un-catch poisonous Pufferfish and fishing hooks getting caught on boats. This last one happened way more times than we should admit!
After dancing till the wee hours on Friday night, sore heads and sunburn meant Saturday was spent lounging by the pool. Always going above and beyond to help those in need, Team Customer Support had put together personalised survival kits for every Adder, which we were a godsend after a big night out. A few broken ribs and a plane ride home through a thunderstorm later (yes, really!) it was time to say goodbye and restart the countdown till next year’s end of year shenanigans.
Apart from being an unbelievable Christmas Party, there couldn’t have been a better way to strengthen team bonds and celebrate the hard-earned wins of 2016 than with our epic trip away. Team JobAdder has grown and expanded a lot this year, but it’s moments like the ones on this trip that remind us that it’s who we are and the culture we foster that makes us love coming to work every day, not just the work we do when we get there. Till next year Adders, Merry Christmas ya filthy animals! The feature has only been live for a short time and already it’s had huge uptake, and it’s easy to see why. @Mentions allows recruiters and HR managers to collaborate faster and better than ever before. While juggling placements and liaising with different candidates and clients, this new feature makes it easy for the busy recruiter to navigate right to where they’re needed. @Mentions can be used to:
There’s no excuse for your message to be overlooked, @Mentions makes sure your message is always heard! And the best part?

Having gained popularity throughout New Zealand and in Melbourne over the last 2 years, the team behind Recruitment Meetup kicked things off in Sydney over beers at JobAdder HQ. Talent Acquisition leader and no-nonsense host Mark Mansour set the tone when he cut right to the chase, “let’s be honest, recruiters keep information to themselves – there’s always that one person who stashes away a dream candidate’s CV in their top drawer.” With that in mind, the #SydRecMeetup group provides recruiters (both agency and in-house) with an opportunity to network and trade secrets with other like-minded people. In doing so it aims to bridge the gap between agency and internal recruiters and to alleviate that feeling a lot of recruiters have of working in separate silos. Turns out this struck a chord – some of their meetups have had up to 100 recruiters in attendance. In the spirit of Mark’s candid, no-BS mantra, here’s a snapshot of the best tips and advice to come out of the talk:
